With over 50 pictures on view, this exhibition focuses on paintings of Birds and Wildlife and includes works by many of our renowned contemporary artists such as Rodger McPhail, David Ord-Kerr, Ray Harris-Ching, Paul Augustinus, Emma Faull, Andrew Stock and Mandy Shepherd. We will also be showcasing works by some of our new artists including Jeremy Houghton’s colourful and abstract birds, Beatrice Forshall’s hand-painted drypoint engravings of ‘red list’ species birds, Catherine Clancy’s There is flight studies inspired by the story of the Blue Chilean Eagle and Tuema Pattie’s fluid oils on of wildlife from Antartica and the Galapagos.
Amongst the sculpture on show are works by new artist Stephen Henderson of birds and fish made from salvaged metal and driftwood and inspired by the habitat of the Essex marshes.There is a selection of animal bronzes, including two cats by the famous South African sculptor Dylan Lewis both charged with energy and power, the charming Jackass Penguins by Camilla Le May, and beautifully textured bronzes by new artist Knox Field, Stalking Tiger and Hummingbird.
This exhibition will open on Thursday 23 November and continue until Saturday 16 December. On Saturday 2 December to coincide with Petworth’s Christmas lights and late night shopping, we will be open until 8pm, where hopefully you will get a chance to meet with some of the artists and enjoy a glass of wine.
