2.30pm - 6.00pm
It's hard to believe that it was 35 years ago when a few of us keen gardeners were sitting round the Public Bar fire in the Noah's Ark one autumn evening. The Cricket season had just ended, and we were wondering how to amuse ourselves during the coming winter months... We dreamed up the idea of forming a village Horticultural Club, and the following August, we held our first Show in the Village Hall.
Over the years, the Club has blossomed (if you'll forgive the pun); membership has increased; we've organised visits to Chelsea Flower Show, Wisley and many other famous gardens; well-known gardeners have given talks in the Village Hall; we've held our own Gardeners Question Time, gardening Quiz Nights and much more. We hold an annual Open Gardens Day, our fabulous Plant Stall at Lurgashall Fete is famous far and wide, and our Annual Shows have gone from strength to strength.
This year is our 34th Show - with 80 Classes for Adults and Juniors to enter which include flower arranging, cookery, photography, handicraft, homemade drinks, miniature gardens - and a couple of 'just for fun' classes: this year for the longest runner bean and the biggest tomato!
Participation is open to anyone resident in the Parish of Lurgashall.
