Bonkers For Conkers at Langhams

Bonkers For Conkers at Langhams

14 OCTOBER

2.00pm - 10.00pm

Bonkers? Yes… For Conkers!

We’re reaching out to all serious sports men, women, families, children (and their dogs) to join our annual daredevil contest of skill and danger.

Our much-loved, well-supported annual conker competition began life in 2007; this year marks the event’s 11th birthday. Join us at our beautiful ‘brewery in a barn’ on the Cowdray Estate – on Sunday 14th October.

It’s free to come along, but please give generously, as we’ll be collecting for Chestnut Tree House Hospice Care Sussex.

This year is going to be very special as it is Chestnut Tree HouseHospice’s 15th birthday. October will formally be known as Conktober and Squirrel Nutkin will be hosting a range of conker-themed charity events, including Langhams 11th Annual Bonkers for Conkers Championships on 14th October.

There will be 2 competitions to find the junior (8 to 15 years) and senior conker champions of 2018.
World championship rules apply… and all conkers are provided by the organisers (so no cheating!). This is serious (& very fun) stuff!

Players can register to play conkers online: details re registration to follow.
It’s just £2.50 to play.

There will also be (of course!) an excellent bar with 13 of our award winning ales available, live music, plus a wonderful homemade BBQ, from the excellent Cocking Farm Shop, plus cakes and teas.

Throughout the afternoon, the crowd will be musically entertained with an excellent medley from The Petworth Town Youth Band and local foot-tapping ukulele trio Yukon Bass; plus there are excellent local craft stalls inside and outside the brewery, including Noble and Stace Chocolatiere and his irresistible chocolate conkers; the Steamy Steam Punk Seamstress; Traidcraft; AD Crafting and many more.

For delighted children (and adults alike) we will have gleaming two-cylinder steam engines offering miniature steam engine rides, plus face painting and jumbo quoits.

So… who will win the coveted Langham Cup or get their name on the treasured junior trophy shield?

Good luck!
