The Arts Society West Sussex - THOMAS CHIPPENDALE & HIS CONTEMPORARIES

THOMAS CHIPPENDALE & HIS CONTEMPORARIES

6 NOVEMBER

2.00pm - 3.00pm

Most of Chippendale’s known furniture was made during the 1760s and 1770s. Nostell Priory and Harewood House are classic examples of where Chippendale’s firm supplied everything from state beds to meat hooks and mangles. The talk will look at these interiors, the style of Chippendale’s furniture, his use of mahogany and marquetry and his relationship with his patrons.
