Time: Matinée at 2pm-3pm
Evening Concert at 6.30pm – 8.30pm
The Leconfield Singers’ seasonal offerings on Saturday 8th December at St Mary's Church Petworth will be packed full of Christmas favourites along with a selection of surprises.
The Matinée concert will feature the excellent Dorset House School Choir, and the Evening Concert, which includes an interval where you can enjoy a glass of wine and a mince pie, features the recently commissioned Christmas Cantata ‘A Winter’s Night’ by Cecilia McDowall (2014). This beautiful festive work consists of five carol arrangements in an original setting, both spirited and contemplative, against a backdrop of brass, organ and percussion.
Both concerts will feature favourite traditional as well as contemporary carols, with audience participation.
As always, The Leconfield Singers are delighted to be conducted by their Musical Director Graham Wili, and accompanied by the renowned organist Philip Scriven and English Philharmonia Brass, drawn from some of the finest musicians in the UK.
The choir will be holding its retiring collection in aid of The Friends of St Mary’s, which aims to generate income, to sustain and enhance the building in its secular capacity, as a civic and cultural centre.
