Also enjoy traditional folk shanties from Spinnaker Shanty. \nWonderful\, delicious\, warming food (including veggie options) will be on offer via Simply Hog Roasts\, and you’ll be more than welcome to purchase award-winning beers (and softs) from the fully-stocked bar. \nThe running order is as follows: \n12pm Event Opens \n12.30pm Morris Dancing from Mary Rose and Royal George \n1.15pm Prize Old Mummers Play \n2.00pm Shanty singing with Spinnaker Shanty Singers \n2.30pm Plastic Shamrocks \n3pm Close \nMaster of Ceremonies: Martyn Constable. \nThis event is free to enjoy\, but please give generously to the chosen charity Naomi House Children’s Hospice. \nMore About Mummers: \nMummers’ plays are folk plays performed by troupes of amateur actors\, traditionally all male\, known as mummers or guisers (also by local names such as rhymers\, pace-eggers\, soulers\, tipteerers\, wrenboys\, and galoshins). Historically\, mummers’ plays consisted of informal groups of costumed community members that visited from house to house on various holidays. Today the term refers especially to a play in which a number of characters are called on stage\, two of whom engage in a combat\, the loser being revived by a doctor character
