DESCRIPTION:23 SEPTEMBER – 9 OCTOBER 2021 \nMonday – Friday 10am – 6pm \nSaturdays 11am – 4pm \nMandy’s art education began at the Byam Shaw\, London\, followed by three years at Brighton to complete an honours degree in Fine Art and Illustration. She travelled to Africa to work initially in Zambia in South Luangwa\, in Zimbabwe working in an advertising agency\, and then gaining valuable experience learning about South African artists with a highly successful gallery in Johannesburg. She was also establishing her own painting style and returned to Zambia for her first one woman show. \nShe returned to London in 1982 to join a shared studio for a short while before moving to Chichester which has been her home since 1985. \nWildlife took her to the Falkland Islands in 1996 when researching for her first book opened the door to a new world of military subjects from which she has never looked back. Commissions came from the Parachute regiment\, Royal Artillery\, Royal Airforce of Oman\, The Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy. She went on to work for the Special Forces recording international active deployment and has travelled widely to Brunei\, Kosovo\, Afghanistan and Iraq. \nHer portfolio includes subjects both wildlife and domestic\, military and portraiture. Her success has come from her open enthusiasm to paint all things in fine detail and this attention to accuracy is complimented by an interpretation of subject material painting with any water soluble medium which is unique to Mandy. \nHer ‘other ‘ life is her lifelong commitment to Wildlife Conservation and she supports the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation through her Art and taking safaris worldwide.

DESCRIPTION:9.00am – 11.30am \nFamily Support Practitioner working for Family Support Work – who are a registered charity that support vulnerable children and families throughout Sussex. Excitingly\, Family Support Work have now extended their service and have an active practitioner in the Petworth\, Midhurst and surrounding areas. \nFamily Support Practitioners are qualified professionals who work in their local areas with families referred to them. Family Support practitioners spend time getting to know their families before helping them to develop coping mechanisms\, working at their own pace to resolve their issues and improve their wellbeing and life chances. We offer support in a variety of ways: \n\n\n 	Home visits\n 	One-to-one support meetings\n 	Individual playwork\n 	Support groups and drop-ins\n 	Family activity sessions\n 	Signposting to other agencies\n 	Partnership/multi-agency working with other professional bodies.\n\nWe receive referrals from a number of Schools and education professionals\, Health and social care professionals\, Family Centres\, Churches\, Other voluntary organisations and self-referrals. \nThis is a drop in for families (with a child 0 – 16 years) \nThe idea is a place to meet for tea/coffee and chat with other families. I have invited other charities to attend on different weeks these include  Mind\, \nHomestart\, social prescriber\, family practitioner to come along to offer advice and support\, if required. Feedback back will be collected after 5 weeks and reviewed in terms of a facilitating a longer term group.

Sunday 10th October. 1pm – 6.30pm. \nLangham Brewery are reaching out to all serious sports men\, women\, families\, children (and their dogs) to their annual daredevil contest of skill and danger. \nThis much-loved\, well-supported annual conker competition began life in 2007; this year marks the event’s 14th birthday. Join the event at the beautiful ‘brewery in a barn’ on the Cowdray Estate\, on Sunday 10th October. \nLesley\, co-owner of the brewery says\, “We’re thrilled to be bringing this annual event to the local community. It’s always lots of fun and well-supported\, with fantastic food\, wonderful friendly people and of course\, tasty award-winning ales. We’ve missed you so much at our events during lockdown – we’re hugely looking forward to welcoming you back to the brewery again. \nThere will be 2 competitions to find the junior (8 to 15 years) and senior conker champions of 2021.\nWorld championship rules apply… and all conkers are provided by the organisers. Highlights include a fantastic view of nineteenth century Constantinople by John Lynn (active 1826-1869)\, a rare watercolour from an 1853 Arctic expedition by Edward Augustus Inglefield (1820-1894) and an impressionistic watercolour of yachts at Cowes by Paul Maze (1887-1979)
