Being interested in stones and having a degree in geology he couldn’t help but notice the magnificent gems in the jewellery Her Majesty used to wear. In fact\, if he admired a certain piece she would sometimes take it off and give it to him to have a closer look. This inspired him to study gemmology and when he left the army he qualified as a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Discover tips and tricks along the way such as sourcing and conditioning your own flowers.\n\nAll the workshop notes will be written down in a workshop wallet folder for you to take away with you for later reference.\n\nYou will then be shown how to present your Hand Tied bouquet in a presentation box plus a nice way to wrap them.\n\nAll the tools needed plus an apron are here for you to borrow. You are free to take home your bouquet with you.\n\nHaving been shown a demonstration you will be able to choose your own flowers and foliage from our flower stand which has the best of the season’s blooms.\nAlthough you will be encouraged to be creative\, rest assured there will always be someone on hand to help you and make sure you come away with something for you to be proud of.\n\nThe workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those that wish to improve on their floristry skills. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a range of outstanding contemporary British sculpture in the heart of the South Downs National Park. There are small-scale intimate works for interiors as well as large pieces for the garden. Established 20 years ago\, the Summer Exhibition has become a highlight in the West Sussex art calendar. \nDominating the landscape are large scale abstract pieces in bronze by Lucy Lutyens together with Benji Lowsley-Williams’s  majestic pieces carved from his native Purbeck Marble.  Adam Binder’s delicate bronze animals and birds grace the interior space and Miranda Michels returns with her superbly observed animals in welded steel.  New sculptors include emerging abstract artists\, Mark Bowman and Archie Browning and Tobias Ford with his stunning flying birds. The exhibition also showcases some of the country’s leading stone carvers including Paul Vanstone\, Mel Fraser and Jonathan Loxley. \nWe are thrilled to be including a selection of paintings by Deborah Gourlay from her time as artist-in-residence at Glyndebourne Opera. Another highlight is a sweeping  two metre landscape by John Hitchens painted  from the top of nearby Duncton Hill in 1972.  New exhibitors include Catriona Millar with her naive\, evocative figurative portraits\, Gabriel Langlands elegaic vistas and Laura Cramer’s gestural abstract landscapes. While returning gallery favourites include Oona Campbell\, Lucy Powell\, Sam Rudd and Sarah Bowman. \nThis is an exhibition which celebrates many of the finest aspects of contemporary British art\, which combined with its spectacular rural setting\, only five minutes from the antique and artistic hub of Petworth\, make it a unique destination. The famous National Trust property in the picturesque market town of Petworth has proved an ideal venue\, attracting thousands of eager visitors. In its spacious marquee\, the Petworth Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair has over 60 exhibitors\, predominantly members of The British Antique Dealers’ Association and LAPADA The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers. They offer for sale a wide range of desirable items from period to modern furniture\, jewellery\, sculpture\, glass\, lighting\, vintage watches and silver to paintings\, drawings\, ceramics\, clocks\, 20th century design objects\, maps\, prints\, enamels\, objects of vertu\, aeronautica and many other decorative and unique works of art spanning the centuries. \nWe are very happy to again work with The National Trust at Petworth House as well as with the local dealer association PAADA and the Petworth Business Association\, creating yet another exciting event. The grand 17th century house boasts an internationally important art collection\, and together with its ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped country park\, it provides a magnificent backdrop for our annual fair. \nThe fair has its own free car park by the marquee – access is from the A272 Tillington Road through the gate at New Lodges. The AA signs will direct traffic to this entrance and not to the main car park on the A283\, where there is a charge of £4 for non-National Trust members. Disabled parking close to the fair entrance. The pedestrian entrance is via the Cricket Lodge gate\, also on the A272\, or via the Cowyard. \nFair visitors enjoy free access to Petworth House during the three day event. National Trust members and Petworth House ticket holders may attend the antiques fair free of charge. \nLight refreshments are available in the restaurant inside the fair\, operated by The Naked Food Company. \nDogs that can be carried and guide/assistance dogs are welcome.
