SUMMARY:European Visions - Art in Transition
DESCRIPTION:7 FEBRUARY – 18 APRIL 2026\n\n10.00am – 5.00pm\n\nWe are delighted to welcome you to the opening of our new exhibition\, European Visions: Art in Transition\, this Saturday\, 7th February\, running through to 18th April. A new year brings fresh perspectives: the gallery is brimming with eclectic works from 20th-century Europe\, reflecting the shifting currents and creative experimentation\, perfectly echoing the exhibition’s title.\n\nAmong the highlights\, we have a number of Nafir Boaba’s works\, dazzling with strong\, bright colour and a confident\, Picasso-esque sense of design. Yves Ganne’s paintings\, spanning the 1940s to 1970s\, range from vibrant figurative studies to still lifes\, rendered in a wide variety of hues and tones to suit the mood.\n\nThe exhibition also features works on paper\, including a signed and numbered etching by Max Ernst\, several signed prints by Salvador Dalí\, and two pastel abstracts by Bernhard Brodda\, all of which add a lively\, eclectic energy to the collection.\nJoin us for the opening on Saturday\, 12–2pm\, where drinks will be served as you explore the exhibition. \n

SUMMARY:La Scala on Screen: Evgenij Onegin
DESCRIPTION:10 MARCH 2026 \n7.30pm – 10.00pm \nPart of our 2025/26 Live Arts Series; bringing live streamed and pre-recorded theatre\, ballet\, and opera to our cinema screen in full surround sound. \nTeatro alla Scala presents a new production of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece drawn from Pushkin’s novel in verse. Its debut in 1879 marked a turning point in Russian opera\, abandoning historical tableaux and spectacular effects to paint an intimate portrait of a small group of characters. \nThe composer wrote: “Those for whom the first prerequisite of an opera is stage action will not be satisfied by it. Those\, on the other hand\, who in an opera are capable of looking for the musical illustration of everyday\, simple\, universally human emotions\, far removed from anything tragic or theatrical\, may (I hope) actually turn out to be satisfied with my opera.” \nThe music is entrusted to the youthful Timur Zangiev\, who stepped into the spotlight when he replaced Valery Gergiev in the Pique Dame and was consecrated at the Salzburg Festival. Stage direction is in the hands of Mario Martone\, now in his tenth La Scala production\, returning to the Russian repertoire after the triumphant Khovanshchina of Mussorgsky in 2019: as then\, set design is by Margherita Palli. \nMusic: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky \nConductor: Timur Zangiev \nDirector: Mario Martone \nOrchestra and Choir of Teatro alla Scala
