Dales Country Interiors

Dales Country Interiors

Dales Country Interiors was created at the kitchen table on a cold spring morning, over a cup of tea and a rather delicious Victoria Sponge.

Both Cathy & Sophie have a love of vintage, shabby chic, sewing, gorgeous home interiors and giving a new lease of life to tired pieces of furniture.  Now, some months later, we can be either be found in our workshop, along with our two naughty but lovely dogs; Savannah and Hugo, or in our little shop in Petworth.  There is still tea.  And, of course, still cake!

Based near Petworth, in the wonderful West Sussex countryside, Dales Country Interiors prides itself on providing beautiful interiors and gifts.  From hand painted vintage style furniture, to a range of carefully selected stylish homewares and accessories.

Additionally on offer is a furniture painting service.  If you have furniture that is looking tired or no longer suits the style of your home let us help you give it a new lease of life.  Get in touch today.

Moncrieff Bray Gallery

The Moncrieff-Bray Gallery is a spectacular 120 square metre converted barn and landscaped gardens with stunning views over the Rother Valley and South Downs. It opened in 2005 to hold regular exhibitions of contemporary painting and sculpture.

Prior to running the gallery Elspeth Moncrieff worked for several years as a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum before becoming Deputy Editor first of the Antique Collector and then Apollo Magazine. From 1996-2004 she was the Art Market Correspondent for The Art Newspaper building up a wealth of experience about the art market.

On moving to Sussex with a young family she decided to renovate the derelict farm yard  beside  house and open a gallery.  Beginning with two recent graduates of the West Dean College MA course Tim Kent and Pippa Blake the gallery has continued to grow and expand showing living, British artists and sculptors drawn from all corners of the British Isles.  Work is selected with a commitment to quality, integrity and originality from both established and emerging artists and the gallery is delighted that artists and sculptors they nourished and showed at an early stage in their career have gone on to gain an  international audience.

In keeping with our country location we have a strong interest in landscapes and seascapes as well as interiors and still lives and our artists could be described as hovering between abstraction and figuration with a strong feeling for the environment and their immediate surroundings,  whether it be a domestic interior or  a wild coastline.

We have built up a  loyal following of clients who have remained faithful to the gallery returning  to our annual summer exhibition which is a high light of the year  as guests enjoy our selection of  sculpture in a natural setting beyond the confines of  a gallery with wonderful views across the Rother valley.

The gallery prides itself on its relaxed and welcoming approach, dogs and children are always welcome. It is a destination on its own right,  but also less than ten minutes from Petworth with its wealth of art and antique shops. We look forward to welcoming you to this  surprising destination  -  a gallery of West End quality located half a mile down a farm track in the heart of the South Downs National Park.

Nigel Williams has been established in Petworth for over twelve years, specialising in items of antique silver.

Many silver items are of historical interest, illustrating changing lifestyles through the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and later periods – as well as representing decorative silver design movements including the Aesthetic movement, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. On occasion there may be items of additional interest to collectors of, for example, Colonial, Scottish, Irish, Chinese and Russian silver.

Oakapple Trading Company

Oakapple is the Petworth stockist for several recognisable British brands of textiles, ceramics and everything for the home, such as Emma Bridgewater, Cornishware, Bronte by Moon, Quail Ceramics, Newgate Clocks and Burgon and Ball amongst others. This reflects the wide-ranging goods available for your own home and garden and the modern yet classic take on country life. Products are selected for their unique yet useful qualities with the discerning shopper in mind and this creates a selection of homewares which cannot be found in any one catalogue or high street shop.

New suppliers are tried and tested and customers views are always interesting, so any feedback is welcomed! By the same token, many suppliers who have worked with Oakapple over the previous 20 years are maintained and relationships are valued to ensure the best quality and value.
