DESCRIPTION:8–10 MAY 2026 \nFriday 11.00–19.00  \nSaturday 10.30–18.00  \nSunday 10.30–17.00 \n£10 at the door – free re-admission with programme. \nOr print your own complimentary ticket from this site. \nOur next fair in Petworth Park will be held from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 May 2026 – the twelfth instalment of this popular show. \nThe famous National Trust property in the picturesque market town of Petworth has proved an ideal venue\, attracting thousands of eager visitors. In its spacious marquee\, the Petworth Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair has over 60 exhibitors\, predominantly members of The British Antique Dealers’ Association and LAPADA The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers. They offer for sale a wide range of desirable items such as fine period furniture\, clocks\, oil and watercolour paintings\, maps\, glass\, sculpture\, lighting\, vintage watches\, boxes\, silver and jewellery together with ceramics\, 20th century design objects\, drawings and prints\, textiles and carpets\, garden artefacts\, applied arts and many other decorative and unique works of art from the ancient to the contemporary. \nWe are very happy to again work with The National Trust at Petworth House as well as with the local dealer association PAADA and the Petworth Business Association\, creating yet another exciting event. The grand 17th century house boasts an internationally important art collection\, and together with its ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped country park\, it provides a magnificent backdrop for our annual fair. \nThe fair has its own free car park by the marquee – access is from the A272 Tillington Road through the gate at New Lodges. The AA signs will direct traffic to this entrance and not to the main car park on the A283\, where there is a charge of £4 for non-National Trust members. Disabled parking close to the fair entrance. The pedestrian entrance is via the Cricket Lodge gate\, also on the A272\, or via the Cowyard. \nA courtesy shuttle bus service will operate between the fair car park\, the entrance to Petworth House and the town centre\, running hourly between 11 am and 6 pm (5pm on Sunday). \nFair visitors enjoy free access to Petworth House during the three day event. National Trust members and Petworth House ticket holders may attend the antiques fair free of charge. \nLight refreshments are available in the restaurant inside the fair\, operated by The Naked Food Company. \nDogs that can be carried and guide/assistance dogs are welcome. \nFor local information\, including details of hotels\, restaurants and things to do\, please visit Discover Petworth and Visit South East England.

DESCRIPTION:19 JULY 2025 \n2.30pm – 4.30pm \nThis history walk in the Park takes two hours.  The pace is easy and involves only one steep but shortish climb.  We will  see and hear about all the main historic sites\, how the Park has grown\, how its use has changed over the centuries and about the personalities who have shaped it. \nFrom flint blades on Arbour Hill going back  8000 years\, the early deer park\,  the land grab by King Henry 8th together with his hunting lodge\, the contested enclosure of the 8th Earl of Northumberland\, the creation of the Capability Brown landscape and lost roads\,  why the House abuts the Town rather than being in the middle of the Park\, the destruction of parts of Petworth Town &  Tillington to enlarge the Park\, the Georgian shooting range\, the Park’s role in WW11\, including the Dieppe Raid and D Day\, the post war Polish camp and bringing us right up to date the change in landscape from the abortive Petworth by pass and the Great Storm of 1987 – & more! \nEveryone\, members and non members of the Society welcome including dogs kept on a short lead.  It will be fun\, informative and an opportunity to make new friends! \nNo charge for members of the Petworth Society\, £5 for non members. \nThere is  a limit on numbers\, so if you would like to join please book online –  go to https://Petworthsociety.co.uk  or register your interest by emailing Bev Sewell at  Info@Petworth Society.co.uk. \nTo avoid going into the National Trust pay area meet in the Cow Yard at Petworth House – 2.15 for 2.30 pm  Do NOT go to Church Lodge entrance to Petworth House. \nThe entrance to the Cow Yard is through the open gates on the left\, 100 yards down North Street from St Mary’s Parish Church. \nContact walk leader Ian on 07825 198675 if any questions about the walk itself.

For the first time in 20 years\, a wide range of J.M.W. Turner’s artistic studies of the extraordinary landscape at Petworth House and Park will be exhibited in the very place that inspired him. The exhibition will close at 9pm.\nTake a stroll around the garden to see the evening sunlight illuminate the Italian styled Ionic Rotunda and absorb the peaceful atmosphere on the woodland walk. See an unusual hollow Common Lime (this is difficult to age as the trunk has fragmented\, but perhaps it is 500 to 600 years old\, with a girth of 7.46m). DESCRIPTION:19–21 May 2023 \nFriday 11.00–18.00 | Saturday 10.30–18.00 | Sunday 10.30–17.00 \nFollowing eight successful years in Petworth Park\, the fair is scheduled to return 19-21 May 2023. The famous National Trust property in the picturesque market town of Petworth has proved an ideal venue\, attracting thousands of eager visitors. In its spacious marquee\, the Petworth Park Antiques & Fine Art Fair has around 60 exhibitors\, predominantly members of The British Antique Dealers’ Association and LAPADA The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers. They offer for sale a wide range of desirable items from furniture\, jewellery\, sculpture\, glass\, lighting\, photography\, vintage watches and silver to paintings\, drawings\, ceramics\, clocks\, 20th century design objects\, maps\, prints\, oriental carpets\, tribal art\, historical medals\, aeronautica\, garden ornaments and many other decorative and unique works of art spanning the centuries. \nWe are very happy to again work with The National Trust at Petworth House as well as with the local dealer association PAADA and the Petworth Business Association\, creating yet another exciting event. The grand 17th century house boasts an internationally important art collection\, and together with its ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped country park\, it provides a magnificent backdrop for our annual fair. \nThe fair has its own free car park by the marquee – access is from the A272 Tillington Road through the gate at New Lodges. The AA signs will direct traffic to this entrance and not to the main car park on the A283\, where there is a charge of £4 for non-National Trust members. Disabled parking close to the fair entrance. The pedestrian entrance is via the Cricket Lodge gate\, also on the A272\, or via the Cowyard. \nFair visitors enjoy free access to Petworth House during the three day event. You will be taught a range of yoga postures and meditation to help release and work to heal any imbalance\, aiding flexibility\, strength and overall body awareness. The warm up that is included will enable you to mobilise your joints. Special breathing techniques will be taught to focus on improving your breathing\, whilst the mind Yoga philosophy will be an integral part of the session\, adding to the overall understanding of the practice of Yoga. All yoga classes finish with a period of relaxation\, to integrate the undoing in the body of the postures and this naturally leads to preparing the mind for meditation. \nWeather permitting\, the teaching of yoga lends itself to being enjoyed outside in an open area. It is so nice to be able to meditate outside to feel the warmth of the sun\, hear the rustling of the trees\, the sounds of the birds and just be a part of nature. \nPlease note that this event will run outside\, within the stunning grounds of Petworth Park. Therefore\, in order to gain the most from this experience\, please read the information below. \n\nWhat previous experience\, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?\nThis class is suitable for all.\nWhat do I need to bring with me?\nPlease wear clothing appropriate for exercise and bring a bottle of water and something to lie on such as a mat or blanket. \nPlease remember that your supplies must be portable and easy to carry! \n\n\n\nIMPORTANT INFORMATION:\nThis class is for those aged 18+ years\nPlease arrive at least 15 minutes before your course starts to allow sufficient time to park and to ensure that the class can start promptly.
