Badgers is a privately owned freehouse nestled in the heart of the South Downs. Run for the past 22 years by Jules Arlette and her friendly team, they endeavour to make sure your visit to Petworth is as pleasurable as possible.
Badgers has a lively bar, supported by an interesting array of locals with many a tale to tell! They offer a wide range of beers, wines and spirits and because they are a freehouse, they have no constraints imposed by a brewery and offer real ales – which the locals have a big say in choosing.
Badgers pride themselves on using fresh local produces wherever possible and the menu changes regularly to incorporate what is available seasonally throughout the year. It also has a fine restaurant with a unique menu to cater for all tastes. Three luxury double rooms with en-suite are also available.
Steeped in history, Badgers was previously known as The Railway Inn in the late 1800’s and was the old charabanc stop on the way to Goodwood racecourse. It also served Petworth Railway Station which closed down in the 1960s.
