The town of Petworth has a rich history. Settled since at least Norman times, it is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.

GETTING TO PETWORTH BY ROAD
Petworth is ideally situated for exploring the South East of England by road. Just a 1hr drive from the M25 London Ring Road on the located on A283, it is within easy distance of not only the local attractions but beautiful beaches, historic dockyards and of course the stunning scenery of the South Downs National Park.
The A272 which starts in East Sussex and ends in Winchester, passing many towns and villages one of which is Petworth.

The closest station to Petworth is Pulborough 5¼ miles. The No. 1 Stagecoach bus service between Worthing and Midhurst stops in Petworth and passes Pulborough train station.There is a Taxi service at Pulborough station, call into the cafe to book or call Tri-Cars on 01403 783285.
Pulborough trains go to London Victoria.Haslemere station is 11 miles. The Line Bus 70 bus service will bring you into Petworth via Midhurst. There is a Taxi service at Haslemere station, call Haslemere Alpha taxis on 07908 556622 Haslemere trains go to London Waterloo.
