Our annual Spring show RECENT ACQUISITIONS is back with a selection of top Sporting, Wildlife and Maritime art. Works range in date from the 18th and 19th Centuries, through to the war years with a stunning work by Frank Owen Salisbury entitled, Intercepting Doddlebugs over the South Coast, 1944; a work commissioned by Duncan Sandys, son-in-law of Sir Winston Churchill and Chairman of The Defence Committee (full details in the catalogue). Other highlights include a lovely little Autumn Study by Sir Alfred James Munnings, John Cleveley’s traditional depiction of The East Indiaman Princess Royal on her maiden voyage to and from China, 1771, and some wonderful classic David Shepherd Giraffe and Lion studies. Of topical interest might be Tim Scott Bolton’s views of the pretty village of Firle, East Sussex where the glittering new film blockbuster Emma was shot.
Highlights of the show will be on view at The Open Art Fair, London from 18-24 March, Duke of York Square, King’s Road, London, SW3 4LY. After which the show will move to Rountree Tryon Gallery in Petworth, West Sussex – works can also be viewed by arrangement at our London gallery in St. James’s.
This is the end
